When WWE came to Cardiff for the biggest the wrestling event in the UK in thirty years they reached out to Twin Made to create a Jumper and Title for Wrestling Superstar Drew Mcintyre.
Charlotte from Twin Made recruited an amazing and talented team of Welsh knitters to design and make an amazing and unique Jumper, which was presented to Drew ahead of Clash at the Castle, before being exhibited in The National Wool Museum until November 2022.
The brief was to celebrate al things Welsh and Wrestling and was created with the group all making a few squares each - there was: Cardiff Castle, A Welsh Love Spoon, The Welsh Flag, A Wrestling Ring and the Title (belt). The back was a knitted version of the Clash At The Castle Logo. You can get the patterns for the squares here.
Charlotte and here team of Welsh Knitters knew the importance of sourcing local materials, so went with Wool from Marriners, who rear their flock between Cardiff and Newport.
There was a tight deadline for the completion of the jumper and belt. From the phone call to Charlotte at the end of the July, several weeks were spent designing and deciding a design and rounding up the team of Welsh Knitters before the knitting patterns were created, the team assembled and knitting began. From the first stitch to completed project was just two very busy weeks. The Jumper took the team a total of 180 hours work.
Once the knitters had completed their squares, they delivered them to Charlotte who put them altogether to make the finished piece.
The creation of the title was just a small team of three, who crocheted up at storm to complete the replica Title (belt)!
“When I got the call from @wwe @wweuk I knew I was the person for the job. Within days I had assembled a team of marvellous Welsh crafters and together we created this Crocheted Title and Knitted Jumper celebrating #ClashAtTheCastle and all things Welsh!!” Charlotte Twin Made

”HELL YEAH!” - Welsh Knitters
“It was a tough and hard few weeks of work, but the team and I did absolutely amazing. I got to have a photoshoot with Drew Mcintyre in Cardiff Castle. It was so nice getting to meet Drew and his wife and the team from WWE who I had spent weeks emailing and chatting too.
I also got to go to the press launch which was so much fun, Every time a wrestler reached for a chair, everyone would flinch. I was introduced to the amazing superstar Bianca Belair who makes all her own clothes! We did interviews for Press from around the world. The WWE very kindly invited me and the knitters to the Wrestling, not all of them could make it, but those that did had so much fun! We even made huge signs to hold. It has a been such an amazing experience!”
